L&D Communicate ‘Speak like a Leader’ with Jo Darby

L&D Communicate is a collaboration between NRG and CIPD to support the continued professional development of our region’s HR&D practitioners.

The free to attend event provides an opportunity to meet HR&D practitioners across the North East to network, share experiences and techniques and discuss current challenges.  The event is open to both members and non-members.

The theme ‘Speak like a Leader – boosting communication confidence and creating greater impact in any speaking situation’ will be suitable for HR, OD and Learning and Development professionals with all levels of experience.

Our speaker

Jo Darby is the Founder of Voice in the Room, delivering public speaking and communication training that transforms teams and individuals into confident speakers and influential leaders so they can step up and nail the meeting, presentation, or pitch with authenticity and impact.

NRG and CIPD are working in partnership* to deliver ‘L&D Communicate on tour of the North East’ as an added value offering and as places are limited, priority will be given to NRG clients and CIPD members. Tea and coffee will be provided.

Jo is an expert in effective communication and public speaking. Prior to establishing Voice in the Room she spent ten years practicing as a family and employment law barrister at Trinity Chambers in Newcastle. Before joining the Bar, she was a professional theatre director working for national and international companies, from Bristol Old Vic, to ATYP Sydney, Australia. Highly experienced at helping others confidently craft their message and create powerful delivery that can connect with any audience, Jo believes we all have the potential to speak with impact when it matters most.
