Senior Database Administrator

About the role

Our client is a leading insurance brand that are taking the UK market by storm. They have offices in Newcastle and London however offer UK wide remote working, and are looking to appoint two Senior Database Administrators to kick start a greenfield team. Personal progression is available through various training and development routes including internal training portals as well as industry recognised certifications.

The opportunity:

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will act as database subject matter expert across the European wide database landscape and be a proactive and driven individual to provide innovative solutions. Work across change delivery and BAU (IT Operations) to deliver effective and efficient deliverables as well as ensuing 24/7smooth operation of the estate.

Working in an enterprise environment, you will work with terabytes of data in a live production environment. Therefore, you will need knowledge of availability groups and always on cluster to provide a seamless flow of information, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.

You will:

  • Develop innovative data solutions and deliver them with scalability and redundancy in mind.

  • Control the application of functional updates, software or hardware additions and maintenance activities to ensure system integrity.

  • Monitor and performance tune system databases across the SQL Server estate through tests and evaluations, ensuring data security, privacy and integrity.

  • Influence IT operation processes and methods, disaster recovery plans and security best practices.

  • Monitor database performance, maintain system availability, implement changes and apply new patches and versions.

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven DBA experience, administering Microsoft SQL server databases.

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Server including T-SQL, query tuning and stored procedure.

  • knowledge of RDBMS concepts and database architecture.
