L & OD Team Leader

About the role

We have been exclusively retained by a respected housing organisation to appoint an experienced Learning and Organisational Development (L&OD) Team Leader on a 12 month fixed term contract.

This is a key opportunity to join a purpose-driven organisation that is committed to developing its people, strengthening capability and creating a culture where colleagues can perform at their best.

Reporting to the Head of Learning and Organisational Development, the successful candidate will lead the day-to-day management and development of the L&OD team, while playing a pivotal role in shaping and delivering a high-quality learning and organisational development service.

The Opportunity

This role offers the opportunity for an experienced L&D professional to make a significant impact within a complex and evolving housing organisation.

You will lead the design, delivery and evaluation of a broad range of learning and organisational development initiatives, working closely with senior leaders, managers and colleagues across the organisation to identify capability needs and deliver solutions that support strategic objectives.

As a key member of the People and Organisational Development function, you will combine strong leadership capability with practical L&D expertise, ensuring learning interventions are engaging, effective and aligned to organisational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

As Learning and Organisational Development Team Leader, you will:

  • Provide inspirational leadership, coaching and support to the L&OD team, enabling colleagues to deliver high-quality learning solutions.

  • Develop and implement effective learning and organisational development strategies aligned to business priorities.

  • Design, deliver and evaluate engaging learning interventions across a range of formats, including digital and face-to-face solutions.

  • Partner with leaders and managers to understand business challenges and provide expert L&D advice and guidance.

  • Lead the development of impactful leadership and capability programmes.

  • Manage the full learning cycle, from identifying needs and designing solutions through to delivery and measuring impact.

  • Use data, insight and evaluation to demonstrate learning effectiveness and return on investment.

  • Oversee learning content, systems and digital learning platforms, including Learning Management Systems.

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external learning providers.

  • Support colleagues and leaders through periods of organisational growth and change.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, inclusion and lifelong learning.

About You

We are seeking an experienced Learning and Organisational Development professional with a strong background in delivering impactful L&D solutions within a complex organisation.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience leading and developing an L&D or L&OD team.

  • Experience designing and delivering learning interventions that create measurable organisational impact.

  • Strong knowledge of contemporary learning and organisational development approaches.

  • Experience developing leadership capability and supporting organisational change.

  • Excellent coaching, facilitation and stakeholder management skills.

  • The ability to influence and collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.

  • Experience using digital learning technologies and learning platforms.

  • A proactive, innovative and customer-focused approach.

A relevant professional qualification in Learning and Development, Organisation Development, Human Resources or a related discipline would be desirable.

About the Organisation

Our client is an established housing organisation with a strong commitment to improving lives, supporting communities and creating a positive experience for colleagues and customers.

With a clear focus on people, culture and continuous improvement, the organisation is investing in its learning and development offer and is looking for an L&OD leader who can help shape the next stage of its journey.
