Newcastle Building Society is the biggest building society in the North East with more branches than any other society in the region. NBS is the eighth largest building society in the UK with assets in excess of £4.4 billion.

NRG has been a recruitment partner of choice to NBS since 2004. During this time NRG has recruited from executive level such as their HR Director, through to high volume roles such as Mortgage Advisors and Customer Service Advisors. NRG has also placed professional roles including those in IT and Finance.
Over the eight years NRG has worked closely in partnership with NBS to meet fluctuations in staffing needs due to shifts in financial market conditions and assisted them with change management.
One of the challenges NBS’ HR department faced was managing the pace of growth and expectations of the business in recruitment terms during times of change. In order to meet these expectations, an NRG Consultant worked on site managing the recruitment function of the HR division in isolation from the general HR function for a six month period. This enabled NRG to initially review the overall process, implementing changes to align the internal and external recruitment processes to drive efficiencies throughout the business. NRG wrote and managed the implementation of new policies and procedures, launching these throughout the business to all Business Managers.
For senior roles, NRG has designed a bespoke assessment centre including a psychometric test, which is delivered as part of the selection process for nominated roles where appropriate.
Newcastle Building Society has the benefit of a dedicated NRG Account Team who manage the total service provision to the society. The team is based at NRG’s Head Office in Newcastle, supported by a Resource Team consisting of Telephone Response Handling Team and a team of experienced Interviewers all based in our Central Support Unit. We have an existing bank of pre-screen readily available candidates specifically for NBS and are quick to identify candidates who would fit the culture and ethos of NBS. NRG’s competency based assessor/interviewers are all fully trained to NBS’ specification and are responsible for ensuring that candidates are given an outstanding level of service.
