Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking expressions of interest for five important Board and governance appointments across the Trust and its subsidiary organisations.

These opportunities offer the chance to contribute to the leadership, governance and future development of a nationally recognised NHS Foundation Trust, supporting the continued delivery of safe, high-quality and sustainable services for the communities it serves.

Together, these appointments will strengthen Board capability across Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and its subsidiary organisations.

The appointment process is expected to include the following stages:

Shortlisting: Thursday 20 August 2026

Interviews:

  • NHFML Non-Executive Director: Wednesday 9 September 2026

  • NHNFT Non-Executive Director (Commercial): Tuesday 15 September 2026

  • Northumbria Primary Care Chair (NPC): Wednesday 16 September 2026

  • NHNFT Non-Executive Director (Clinical): Friday 18 September 2026

  • NHFML Chair: Friday 25 September 2026

​Candidates will be kept informed throughout the process and provided with further information about the relevant assessment arrangements.

​Eligibility and Appointment Checks

Candidates will need to demonstrate that they can meet the time commitment required for the relevant appointment and comply with any eligibility requirements associated with the role.

Given the significant responsibility and public profile associated with these appointments, appropriate background checks will be undertaken to ensure that those appointed meet relevant Fit and Proper Person requirements.

A Disclosure and Barring Service check may also be required.

** Please note that to be eligible to apply for this role, candidates must reside in the North East and North Cumbria region (i.e. the geographical area covered by the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care System).
