Mechanical Maintenance Technician



  • To ensure that a wide range of production equipment is effectively maintained to world class standard to support production activity.

  • Perform effective diagnosis of machinery and equipment faults and carry out timely repairs in order to minimise production downtime.

  • Perform schedules planned maintenance activities in accordance with company requirements.

  • Record and document clearly all maintenance work carried out on both paper and electronic systems as required (maintenance logs).

  • Pro-actively ensure that spare parts, tools and material requirements are highlighted to the relevant personnel in a timely manner. Ensure the in-house spares system is used correctly.

  • Undertake general site & building maintenance activities as required.

  • Continuously look for ways to introduce machine and system improvements

  • Support engineering project work as required such as the installation and commission new machines and equipment as well as modifications upgrades to existing machines and equipment.

  • To support on-site TPM maintenance activities, including mentoring and training of maintenance apprentices and junior technicians

  • Actively promote 5s philosophy / good workplace organisation




  • Must have gained an accredited apprenticeship qualification in an mechanical discipline

  • Must have a minimum of 2-5 years post qualified experience gained within a high volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment – preferably automotive.

  • Suitable candidates should have proven experience and working knowledge of the below (or similar equipment) :


  • Hydraulic and Mechanical Presses including associated material feed and handling equipment.


  • Assembly lines including pick and place transfer, conveyors, rotary tables, rivet forming and weld stations.


  • Possess a high regard to working safely including previous experience of risk assessment and countermeasures.



  • Must be a logical problem solver with excellent fault-finding abilities and experience.

  • Proven mechanical servicing, repair and fitting skills with a passion to consistently work to high standards.

  • Previous experience of working with complex hydraulic circuits including fault diagnostics and repairs advantageous.


Working knowledge of:


  • Gearboxes, Bearings, Drives, Conveyors, Pumps etc.

  • Light Fabrication and Welding (advantageous)

  • Manufacturing Processes and Equipment

  • General Site Maintenance.


  • Lean Manufacturing / 5s experience.

  • Ability to work both well in a team or on own as well as ability to work well under pressure.

  • Must be flexible to work shifts and over time.
