Our client, based to the north west of Newcastle and operating within the financial services are looking to recruit an IT Support Specialist. You will be working closely and managing the IT Service Desk team, supported by an external IT service provider

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Managing the current IT service desk team comprising of 4 apprentices to provide service to the business

  • Managing IT projects with Head Office

  • Managing and reporting on SLA’s

  • Supporting Head Office staff at all levels, ranging from adding printers to resolving software, hardware and wireless connectivity issues

  • Providing support to meeting room users and ensuring meeting room A/V equipment and Macs are operational

  • Building custom spec PCs for the Development Team and providing hardware support where needed, assisting with fault-finding and ordering / fitting replacement parts and upgrades

  • Preparing and rebuilding PCs and laptops for use by staff as required

  • Installing job-specific programs required by some staff (Sage, Access Accounts, Visio)

  • Liaising with third party on patching of network ports and switches

  • Managing remote user VPN access

  • Managing and assigning IP addresses for other fixed-IP devices (Printers, Projectors, security cameras etc.)

  • Remote support to staff on other sites including occasional site visits if needed

  • Assisting with office moves

  • An active member of the Security forum, working towards ISO compliance

  • Internet usage monitoring as needed

  • Any other duties as required by the business

 

Experience / Qualifications

  • Strong IT support experience in a similar role

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business

  • Strong team-worker able to support junior team members as required

  • Willing and able to expand and develop wide skills and knowledge

  • Flexible approach and enthusiastic attitude

  • Committed and self-motivated
