Finance Business Partner
North Tyneside

A leading service provider based in North Tyneside is currently seeking a Finance Business partner to join their Finance and Senior Leadership team.


Reporting to the Finance Director the Finance Business Partner will play a key role in understanding and improving the financial performance of two business units.


You will provide financial, commercial and strategic support to the relevant business unit or functional director in order to:

  • Add value in profit, cash and return on investment

  • Protect value through risk identification and working with operations to mitigate risks

  • Provide strong commercial and general financial acumen to support the relevant business unit or function in achieving their strategic objectives


Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Sales support: Input to key bids, programmes and transformational activities

  • Provide operations support by advancing best practice, identifying opportunities for margin improvement

  • Provision of timely and accurate MI to enable effective business decision making

  • Investment appraisal

  • Business Specific Overheads Support

  • Profit Improvement Planning

  • Analysis (Insight) in reporting

  • Providing commercial and financial insights to support decision-making

  • Complete appropriate commercial analysis and support for new or on going investments

  • Production of monthly rolling forecasts in conjunction with the BU reflecting latest operational performance and new market/business information

  • Production of Finance content for monthly BU board reports

  • In month tracking of performance and supporting GM to monitor expected result for the month and to respond appropriately to variations in performance

  • Establish finance as a trusted partner in all commercial activities

  • Support the Finance Director to deliver internal and external audit and financial control requirements

  • Implement KPIs/tracker as appropriate to ensure the right level of service is achieved at the most effective margins.

  • Continuously improve return on invested capital – the Finance Partner will be responsible for initial review/recommendation and post-acquisition review of investments for the business unit

  • Lead the cash agenda by improving free cash flow for the business unit through improved commercial management. Support the business unit and shared service centre in collections activities where required

  • Support evolution of business processes required to embed new accounting systems

  • Provide information and insight to the business unit management team, Finance Director and MD around business performance. Ensure the information genuinely reflects business performance enabling finance and operational management to drive improvements

  • Support the Finance Director with compliance reporting

  • Provide leadership which creates and promotes a positive and supportive work environment whilst constructively challenging colleagues


The key competencies and knowledge required for this role are:


  • A professional Accounting qualification (ideally CIMA/ACA) with 3+ years industry experience

  • Proven ability to inspire and manage teams

  • Excellent organisational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects under pressure

  • Strong performance managemement - displaying drive and enthusiasm to succeed as part of a team and delivering outstanding results
