Are you a qualified accountant who has the drive to take on a business partner role in a large organisation?

We are working with the UK's leading utility data services provider, who are looking for someone to lead a small finance team within the Energy Retail department. You will be providing business partnering support, ensuring first class accounting, reporting of results, budgets/forecasts and supporting trading reviews. The role is based in Cobalt Business Park, Newcastle and will involve hybrid working.

This is a great opportunity for an individual who wants a degree of autonomy and the opportunity to work for a big business whilst still being able to fully own the P&L for a business unit.

You are likely to be qualified with up to 5 years post qual experience. You will be a practical, hands on type of person. Not too corporate and someone who like an improvement challenge. There is scope in this role to stamp your mark on how things are done. You can decide how to move things forward. In no way just a handle turning job!

In return they are offering a competitive salary of £50-55k + car allowance and benefits to the right individual.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of financial performance, presenting at the monthly Trading Reviews

  • Supervise the month end close, ownership of cost review process

  • Lead and inspire the Finance team

  • Understand key contractual terms and ensure correct revenue recognition and sales invoicing completeness

  • Own the Balance Sheet reconciliation review process

  • Deliver frequent budgeting and forecasting activities, including rolling forecasts

  • Investment appraisals, new opportunity evaluation and development.

  • Management of business unit KPIs, review and challenge performance gaps with the business.

 

About You

  • A Qualified Accountant with around 5 years post qualification experience in a similar role

  • Practical, hands on attitude, not afraid of an improvement challenge

  • An analytical mindset with high attention to detail

  • Excellent Communicator, including Senior Management exposure

  • Drive and motivation to deliver on actions agreed

  • A strong working knowledge of Excel is essential

  • Knowledge of Oracle is desirable

  • Work smart, with the capability to work quickly and efficiently

  • Ability to work to timescales and under pressure

  • Team effort approach, flexible attitude towards tasks and working

  • You must be able to pass the screening and vetting standards, provide up to 5 years employment history and pass a DBS check
