Facilities and Maintenance Technician

Our international automotive client is looking to recruit a Facilities and Maintenance Technician. Based in their Sunderland plant to assist the with the completion of converting the current warehouse facility into a suitable production facility.

 

You will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Undertake a wide range of general basic building maintenance repairs, and improvements

  • Carry out daily routine inspection of the buildings and grounds to identify, record and take appropriate action

  • Minor plumbing, carpentry and DIY

  • Minor grounds maintenance

  • To assist contractors as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all relevant health safety and environmental legislation.

  • General maintenance, testing and operation of systems relating to the fire alarms, sprinkler system, intruder alarm, heating and ventilation, gas and water, lighting.

  • Ensure essential systems are able to function such as fuelling the generator and sprinkler pumps

  • Carry out improvements in respect of internal and external redecoration and internal and external fabric of buildings.

  • Assist with maintaining the physical security of the site including supporting on occasion out of hours access

  • Ensure a safe working environment and excellent housekeeping standards

  • Other duties commensurate to the role.

Essential Criteria

  • General experience of building maintenance as well as understanding of building schematics and plans.

  • Practical use of tools and equipment

  • HNC in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics or similar

  • Time served as an apprentice (mechanical/ electrical)

  • Be able to work own initiative and be able to liaise with other functions and departments at all levels within the Company

  • Experience with using Microsoft Office

  • Good communicator who is open and honest

  • Focused on continuous improvement with a safety mindset with and organised driven approach.

  • Flexible with good decision making and problem-solving skills
