Our client based in Newcastle is looking for a passionate and innovative Buyer to join their rapidly growing business on a permanent basis.

You will be working closely with and reporting to the Procurement Manager providing end to end support. You will assist and lead on specific projects as well as be responsible for a range of duties which includes vendor management, cost and inventory analysis as well as looking at compliance for the business.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationship with existing and new suppliers (facility management, real estate, travel, fleet etc.)

  • Drafting contracts and negotiating agreements with suppliers in coordination with Legal counsel and internal stakeholders

  • Regular liaise and review suppliers addressing any issues in terms performance and services.

  • Lead procurement conversations with suppliers as needed.  

  • Met with and update business areas to communicate, influence, present and discuss the results of each of the stages of negotiation, keeping them informed of the progress of each category. 

  • Use spend analytics to prioritise initiatives and proactively recommend solutions for maximising value

  • Conduct tactical and strategic sourcing projects (including vendor screening) though our eProcurement tool

  • Engage internal customers, delivering tangible savings results

  • Ensure process and policy compliance.

  • Project execution and follow up that may include objectives for savings, process development or improvement, supplier consolidation.

  • Propose improvements/recommendations in the Procurement department, processes, and policies. 

Your profile

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Buyer with a procurement background

  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication, presentation and listening skills.

  • The ability to work independently and show initiative.

  • A proactive attitude - always looking to improve things.

  • An open mindset and vision to design and execute procedures effectively

  • Good maths and English

  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills. Power BI preferred.

  • Organised, Enthusiastic

  • Good problem solving skills

  • CIPS Level 3 or similar preferred
