Software Developer .NET/C#

NRG is working with a renowned Utility & Outsourcing Services company to recruit a software developer to join their Development Support team in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing our client’s software as well as reporting and resolving suspected non-compliance software issues.

This role is offered as a 12 month fixed term contract initially with the possibility of going permanent.

Key Responsibilities

• Development for the current application estate.

• Design, develop and implement new system solutions.

• Write high quality code using the latest engineering tools and best practices according to company standards

• Provide technical support to both customers and employees for issues escalated from the technical helpdesk

• Maintain source control according to company standards

• Ability to investigate problems and provide solutions

• Work with Stakeholders, Business Analysts and other IT colleagues throughout design and build stages.

• Work independently and as part of project team

Required Skills/Experience 

• Experience of Microsoft .NET framework (Visual Studio 2010 and above), with extensive experience of C# and related technologies.

• Good knowledge of SQL and preferably Oracle PL/SQL.

• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and be a team player

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong customer focus

• Good attention to detail and be able to work to deadlines

• Excellent customer service, analytical and problem solving skills.

• An interest in technology and ability to keep up to date with new and emerging techniques and tools.

• Knowledge of a Source Control System (Team Foundation Server, Source Safe, etc).

• Knowledge and experience Waterfall and Agile methodologies
