NRG are working in partnership with a national IT Service Provider looking to add a Network Architect to their team on a 12-month fixed term basis.
The successful individual will join an established team of experienced network engineers responsible for implementing our next generation national network infrastructure. You will report to a project team and advise on the technical direction, executing a successful migration to the new network.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist design, implement and support our core network stretching across the UK connecting a number of company Data Centres.
Provide low level design expertise that allows delivering of a high-quality solution that meets the needs of the company’s core network and customer solutions.
Ownership of the assigned core network objectives from inception through to deployment and be responsible for ensuring it meets the defined requirements in its fully delivered form.
Follow current procedures to document a change or release as well as moving them through the approval process.
Perform a range of scheduled core network maintenance tasks and internal network support if required.
Handling customer communication at a very high standards including tickets, phone, email requests and network updates related to the core network and customer solutions.
Handle a wide variety of networking tasks, such as daily checks of network monitoring, cabling requirements, provisioning of additional network resources.
Flexibility to operate out of hours during planned maintenance or incidents as requested.
Key Requirements:
Ideally CCIE level qualified with experience within a service provider environment.
Strong experience working on a similar environment and familiar with ITIL, project management frameworks and network industry best practices.
Highly experienced using Cisco routing/switching/firewalling plus ideally HP, Extreme and Juniper switches.
Years of design and architecture experience with a preference on large Service Provider, Financial, Government or Enterprise environments.
UK and International travel will be required as part of this role and as a result a Passport and Driving License are required.
