Our client, a leading engineering company based in Blyth is looking for a Control Systems Engineer to join them on a permanent basis.

Job Role

  • Accountable for technical leadership of the programmable control systems engineering resources in supporting the delivery of commercial testing and research projects

  • Accountable for leading, within specialism, the engineering requirements for asset upgrades and commercial testing

  • To review, on an ongoing basis the status of the control systems both hardware and software based within the Blyth site and report annually on the status

  • To lead in producing and delivering a development and implementation plan that addresses the future business obsolesce issues and necessary upgrading of the OREC PLC/SCADA control systems within the facilities

  • To work with the engineering and test teams to produce control systems and displays that are intuitive to work, informative and provide ease of operation. Tailor systems to support both internal and external customer requirements when requested

  • Provide training, active support and documentation to allow key personnel to operate the installed systems with confidence

  • In addition to leading the development plan supporting and being a key member of the testing & validation department operational control system team is essential to ensure that development and delivery of commercial and research projects, programmes and tests are underpinned by robust, expert and sustainable engineering processes, procedures and capability


  • Experience providing support in an operational environment to improve existing processes and systems and interfaces

  • Experience with data recording and analysis systems and instrumentation integration

  • Used to developing and disseminating engineering knowledge to key stakeholders via presentations and training

  • Experience of presenting to stakeholders

  • Sound knowledge of electrical/mechanical generating plant and apparatus

  • Familiarity with advanced specialist engineering software in an inter-disciplinary project setting.
