The Estates and Facilities Division

The Division is responsible for the management of the UCL physical estate, procurement, health and safety advice, records management and data protection.Founded in 1826, UCL is today one of the UK’s top Universities, with approximately 17,000 students and 7,000 staff and an annual revenue budget in the region of £400 million. It has approximately seventy academic departments in eight Faculties - Arts & Humanities, Social & Historical Sciences, Laws, Mathematical & Physical Sciences, Engineering, Built Environment, Life Sciences and Biomedical Sciences (the latter two forming the Medical School). The activities of UCL have expanded as a result of mergers with a number of academic medical institutions.

The UCL estate, which is valued in excess of £1.3 billion, comprises over 350 buildings of varying age and standard and complexity of facilities. 50% is listed or in conservation areas. The gross floor area is approximately 470,000 sq. m. There are three main sites centred on Bloomsbury and also other sites in London and Surrey. In addition there are sports facilities at Shenley (Hertfordshire).
