You’re Invited – North East Tech Meet Up

North East Tech Meet Up is the region’s leading networking event for employers and candidates in the sector.

We are pleased to announce that the next Tech Meet Up will take place on Thursday July 28th, 6-8pm at Campus North, Newcastle City Centre.

Ross Cooney, Global Software & IT Manager, Smith Electric Vehicles will lead the discussion, focusing on the company’s forward-thinking employee development programme.

Having the right team in place is crucial to the success of any high tech project however in the current climate it is difficult to find candidates with the right mix of experience, enthusiasm and raw talent.

This was the dilemma faced by Ross Cooney when he was tasked with building a software development team in Sunderland. Within two years Ross built a team of highly technical engineers in the UK and USA working on projects that range from general IT services to specialist software design and server infrastructure.  With over 23 active development projects (spanning ruby, python, java, C and .NET) the team manage the expectations of over 400 internal and external stakeholders. The team has been in place now for five years with ZERO staff turnover.

There are no silver bullets, there isn’t a 10 step plan and it doesn’t matter how big your beer fund is anymore. Building a team requires a wide variety of strategies and through some light hearted observations Ross will share some of his tips, tricks and war wounds.

Come along and meet Ross, plus many of the North East’s leading technology professionals.
