The Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) is the statutory advisor to the government on UK and international nature conservation. Its work contributes to maintaining and enriching biological diversity, conserving geological features and sustaining natural systems.

Director of Science Conservation - Cambridgeshire

Salary (£): 50,591 Per Annum + benefits

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, your role will lead on the oversight of Science related issues such as conservation standards, biodiversity surveillance and reporting and co-ordination of research. Much of this work requires close collaboration with a variety of stakeholders including the nature conservation agencies in the four UK countries. You will also be a member of the Executive Management Board, having joint responsibility for the strategic direction of the JNCC.

A strong scientific background, including a scientific degree, combined with operational experience in nature conservation and/or the management of natural resources gained with an agency, authority or consultancy is essential. You will have proven leadership skills, excellent communication and negotiating skills and experience in managing a budget.
