Preparation Tips

Firstly it's important to think about the role and company you are applying to. Visit www.ba.com/careers and take a note of the products and services British Airways offers its customers. It's also important to think about what British Airway's can offer you and whether this fits into your future career aspirations.

Prepare for the interview by taking note of the key competencies British Airways are looking for. Think of a situation in your working life where you have demonstrated this competence. Think carefully about your answers and describe actual situations you have been involved in and what you did at the time. Avoid generalising – we want to know what you did, not what you would do.

If you have access to a computer, practice typing data such as names, addresses and numbers. Make yourself familiar with codes including letters and numbers, to ensure you have excellent visual accuracy. Think about when you have provided excellent customer service and how you have dealt with an angry customer.

Prepare for the role play exercise by thinking about a time when you have made a telephone enquiry or made a booking over the phone and had exceptional service. What did you like about how the advisor spoke to you and dealt with your enquiry? As a customer what would you expect from a British Airways advisor?

If it is a long time since you last sat tests or attended an interview remember our assessors are there to provide you with information and support you through the session. We want you to be successful, however if on this occasion you are not, we hope you will gain from the experience and we will encourage you to reapply in twelve months time, when you will have had an opportunity to develop your skills and confidence further.
